New CIÊNCIAVITAE feature facilitates researchers' work

Since its launch in November 2023, CIÊNCIAVITAE's"Suggestions" feature has enabled the simpler and faster addition of 143,000 records relating to scientific output and projects.

This advance in CIÊNCIAVITAE, a digital service from FCT developed through FCCN, has already resulted in an estimated saving of 7,150 working hours / €100,000*, by simplifying CV management for the scientific community and enabling automatic completion. Automating this process not only saves time, but also improves the accuracy and consistency of records on the platform.

With this and other innovations introduced on the platform, researchers can focus their efforts on research and development, contributing decisively to the advancement of science in Portugal.

CIÊNCIAVITAEwill continue to evolve with future updates, in order to further expand the positive impact of this feature on scientific information management, in line with the principles of the PTCRIS program.

* The estimated savings in time and money were calculated based on three factors: the average time to manually enter a record on the platform, which is 3 minutes; researchers devote an average of 1,820 hours per year to their scientific activities; and the average annual salary of a researcher, calculated at €29,000, according to the European Commission's "Study on the Remuneration of Researchers in the Public and Private Sectors."
