Belmiro de Azevedo Foundation Award with support from FCT

Applications for the Belmiro de Azevedo Foundation Award – Conservation, restoration, and monitoring of biodiversity in Portugal opened today, July 4. This award is part of a protocol between the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the Belmiro de Azevedo Foundation (FBA). Applications will be open until 5:00 p.m. (Lisbon time) on August 3, 2023.

This distinction aims to promote the implementation of projects with clear merit and impact at national and international level in the field of biodiversity conservation, restoration, and monitoring in Portugal. Each of the prizes to be awarded will be a maximum of €250,000 and a minimum of €100,000. The total funding available for award will be shared equally up to a total amount of €500,000.

Non-profit private legal entities based in Portugal, including non-profit scientific societies or associations, and higher education institutions and their R&D institutes and units, whether public or private, are eligible to apply. Each proposal must indicate a researcher responsible for coordinating the entity's work, who has held a PhD for at least five years, and each researcher may not be part of more than one application.

Applications must be submitted in English by completing the electronic form available on the myFCT platform.
