Prince Aga Khan (1936–2025)

The Governing Board of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) expresses its deep sorrow at the passing of Prince Karim Al-Husseini, Aga Khan IV, on February 4, 2025, in Lisbon.

Founder and chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslim community, his life's work is marked by his support for various social, cultural, and educational projects around the world.

In 2016, FCT established a protocol with AKDN for the joint financing of research projects, promoting academic, scientific, and technological cooperation with developing countries. Through this partnership, FCT and AKDN have already supported 37 projects with an impact in 13 African countries.

The FCT Board of Directors extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and the entire Ismaili Shia Muslim community.
