The program for the 2026 FCCN Conference is now available
The full program for the 2026 FCCN Conference has been released, reaffirming the event’s status as the leading national gathering dedicated to advanced digital infrastructure and services for higher education and research. From May 5 to 7, at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto, the conference will bring together hundreds of professionals from the fields of science and technology.
Over the course of three days, experts, researchers, institutional decision-makers, and technology managers will participate in thematic sessions, workshops, project presentations, and technology demonstrations highlighting the work carried out by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), through the FCCN, in support of the Portuguese scientific and academic ecosystem. The 2026 edition is structured around five core areas—Computing, Collaboration, Connectivity, Knowledge, and Security—with Artificial Intelligence once again playing a prominent role in the program.
May 5 will be dedicated to the topics of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Open Science, with hands-on sessions covering topics such as digital certificates and digital identity. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn about the latest developments at RCTS, as well as attend sessions on Open Science and Advanced Computing. Services such as myFCT and Arquivo.pt will also be featured.
On May 6, the program will feature a Plenary Session, which will include representatives from FCCN, FCT, and the University of Porto, as well as a presentation by António Murta, this year’s keynote speaker. This day will also include two of the event’s most iconic moments: Zapping FCCN, which showcases the latest in digital services, and Zapping da Comunidade, dedicated to sharing innovative projects created by students, faculty, researchers, and higher education professionals. Other components on the agenda will include science management, digital services for education, ande-learning, on a day that will conclude with the traditional Social Dinner, held this year at the Palácio da Studentship.
On the final day of the conference, May 7, the focus will be on topics related to data, networks, and communication, including eduroam, data management and privacy, web accessibility, science communication, VoIP networks, and multimedia.
The 2026 edition of the FCCN Conference will once again feature the Innovation Hub, a space dedicated to short presentations—about 15 minutes long—that promote a dynamic exchange of community projects and initiatives. Calls for proposals for this format will open soon.
All the latest information about the event is available on the FCCN Conference website.
