The UTAustin Portugal Program Launches Mobility Initiatives Through the Ph.D. In-Residency Research Internship Program
The UTAustin Portugal Program has opened a Call for Expressions of Interest forPh.D. in-residency research internships at the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin), with applications accepted until May 21, 2026.
As part of the 4th phase of the UTAustin Portugal Program and funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), the initiative aims to promote the international mobility of Portuguese doctoral students by offering research stays of between six and 12 months at one of the world’s leading universities. Strategic areas include Advanced Computing, Clean Energy, Nanotechnologies, and Space–Earth Technologies.
Eligible applicants include doctoral students enrolled at Portuguese higher education institutions who have been enrolled for at least 12 months prior to the start of the mobility period and who are Portuguese citizens or permanent residents of Portugal. Applicants must also have the formal support of a faculty member or researcher at UT Austin who will serve as their host during the research period.
Selected candidates will have access to a comprehensive package of financial support, including Studentship mobility Studentship , health insurance, free housing in Austin (subject to availability), and round-trip travel, allowing them to devote themselves exclusively to their research and to strengthening academic and scientific ties between Portugal and UT Austin.
