Promotes 2024 finances R&D projects in inland regions
Applications are now open for the 6th edition of the Promove Program – The Future of the Interior, an initiative of the ”la Caixa” Foundation, in collaboration with BPI and in partnership with FCT. Applications will be accepted until January 31, 2024.
Support will be given to projects and ideas aimed at enhancing the value of Portugal's inland regions, with a view to promoting R&D projects that contribute to the development of these regions, based on knowledge and innovation with a view to enhancing the value of local resources and skills and strengthening qualified human resources.
Pilot projects and ideas should focus on natural resource management, the creation of new hubs for development and innovation, and attracting tourists and new residents. Mobilizing R&D projects should fall within the strategic areas identified by the Portuguese government for the development of the interior, namely: thermal waters, parks and nature reserves, studies on biological risks, and the promotion of new crops and natural products.
This Call annually and awards non-repayable grants of up to €150,000 to pilot projects, €250,000 to mobilizing R&D projects, and €5,000 to innovative ideas developed by university students.
In the five previous editions, the Promove Program mobilized nearly €11.8 million in non-repayable grants, benefiting 70 projects and 31 innovative ideas. Of this amount, €3.7 million was provided by the FCT.
