2023 Annual Report on the European Union's R&D activities published

The European Commission has published the latest edition ofthe"Annual Report on Research and Technological Development Activities in the European Union and Monitoring of Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020 in 2023"(versions available in all official EU languages).

A significant part of the annual report is devoted to policy activities related to research in 2023, focusing on the EU's open strategic autonomy, economic security, and international cooperation, as well as support for Ukrainian researchers. With regard to monitoring, the results and performance of the different parts of Horizon Europe and the Euratom program in 2023 are analyzed in more detail.

The FCT coordinates Portugal's representation and participation in the Scientific Excellence Pillar and the Widening&ERA Pillar in Horizon Europe, and in the Euratom program.

2024 marks the 40th anniversary of the European Union Framework Program, the largest instrument for promoting European research, development, and innovation, and a beacon for international scientific cooperation.
