RCAAP – Scientific Open Access Repositories of Portugal, a service of the FCT developed by FCCN in collaboration with the University of Minho, reached the milestone of one million aggregated documents, celebrating 16 years dedicated to open access.

The RCAAP Portal, which aims to make scientific knowledge available to students, teachers, researchers, and all interested citizens, allows users to search and access thousands of scientific and academic documents, such as scientific journal articles, conference papers, theses, and dissertations. These documents are distributed across various Portuguese repositories, with this portal currently hosting 385 resources (journals and repositories).

RCAAP also integrates the portfolio of open science services of FCT (PubIn, Pólen, Indexar) and science management (PTCRIS program).

In 2013, it became the legally established instrument for complying with the legal deposit of doctoral theses, master's dissertations, and other scientific works. As of May 5, 2014, RCAAP began to serve as an instrument supporting the FCT's open access policy.

RCAAP is open to participation by all institutions in the Portuguese scientific and higher education systems.
