The Portuguese Data Stewards Network, coordinated by the Re.Data consortium, has launched a new national survey on professionals supporting Research Data Management. This survey aims to gather input on the role, functions and challenges faced by professionals who support Research Data Management (RDM) in the national scientific ecosystem.

Data Stewards are professionals who play a key role in promoting good practices in data management, curation and sharing throughout the research lifecycle. Their roles vary depending on the institutional context, but they maintain the common goal of effectively supporting researchers in the management of their data. Through this survey, the Portuguese Network of Data Stewards aims to obtain a clearer view of existing approaches, contributing to the strengthening of the national community and the development of strategies and services more suited to the needs identified.

The Re.Data consortium was developed by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), with the implementation of the National Program for Open Science and Open Research Data (PNCADAI), and is funded by Investment RE-C05-i08 "Ciência Mais Digital" of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).

FCT, through its digital services unit FCCN, is joining in publicizing this initiative, reinforcing its commitment to developing skills and services in the field of Open Science and research data management.

To take part in this initiative, all you have to do is fill in the survey, which takes about 10 minutes, by June 13, 2025.
