Results from Call Teaming for Excellence of Horizon Europe

The results of Call Teaming for Excellence under Horizon Europe, the European funding framework program for research and innovation 2021-2027, have been reported. Teaming for Excellence is a reference Call of Horizon Europe, which aims to implement and develop research centers in Europe, encouraging reforms in national science and technology systems and promoting institutional transformation.

Portugal has two proposals recommended for funding, among a total of 12 selected proposals. The proposals submitted by NOVA ("NOVA Institute for Medical Systems Biology") and by iMM ("iMM-CARE: Boosting clinical research for the benefit of society") may together benefit from a total of around 25 million euros of European funding to develop their projects in the area of health over the next 6 years.

This result is also highly relevant for the pursuit of national goals for the period 2021-2027, helping to double the Portuguese presence in European Programs compared to 2014-2020, and attract about two billion euros of funding from the European Union in the areas of Research and Innovation in this period.
