Provisional results of the Call for IC&DT Projects Azores - Ecological Transition - Space - Ocean
On October 8, the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) released the provisional results of the Call Scientific Research and Technological Development Projects (IC&DT): Azores - Ecological Transition - Space - Ocean. Nine projects will be funded, with a maximum duration of 36 months, which will receive maximum funding of 250,000 euros each, corresponding to an overall investment of €2,242,680.25, fully supported by the FCT budget.
This Call was launched with the aim of supporting research projects that contribute to scientific and technological development in the areas of science, engineering and technology applied to the study of Space, the Geosphere, the Hydrosphere, the Biosphere and the Atmosphere, strengthening the scientific and institutional capacity of the University of the Azores (UAc), in order to make better use of its Atlantic positioning and the natural characteristics that the Azores offer. It is the result of a program contract signed between the FCT, the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES), the Regional Government of the Azores (GRA), the UAc, the Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD), the Portuguese Space Agency (Portugal Space) and the Association for the Development of the International Atlantic Research Centre (AIR Centre).
A total of 46 applications were submitted, with the UAc and the Gaspar Frutuoso Foundation as the proponents.
The applications were assessed by a panel of independent experts appointed by the FCT. The evaluation process took into account criteria such as the scientific quality and innovative nature of the proposals, the scientific merit of the Principal Investigator and the team, the feasibility of the work program and the adequacy of the proposed achievement indicators.
