Provisional results of Call Azores IC&DT Call – Ecological Transition – Space – Ocean
On October 8, the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) announced the provisional results of Call Scientific Research and Technological Development Projects (IC&DT): Azores – Ecological Transition – Space – Ocean. Nine projects will be funded, with a maximum duration of 36 months, each receiving a maximum of €250,000 in funding, corresponding to a total investment of €2,242,680.25, fully supported by the FCT budget.
This Call launched with the aim of supporting research projects that contribute to scientific and technological development in the areas of science, engineering, and technologies applied to the study of Space, the Geosphere, the Hydrosphere, the Biosphere, and the Atmosphere, strengthening the scientific and institutional capacity of the University of the Azores (UAc), to make the most of its Atlantic location and the natural characteristics that the Azores offer. It is the result of a program contract signed between the FCT, the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES), the Regional Government of the Azores (GRA), UAc, the Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD), the Portuguese Space Agency (Portugal Space), and the Association for the Development of the International Atlantic Research Center (AIR Centre).
In total, 46 applications were submitted by the UAc and the Gaspar Frutuoso Foundation.
The evaluation of applications was conducted by a panel of independent experts appointed by FCT. The evaluation process took into account criteria such as the scientific quality and innovative nature of the proposals, the scientific merit of the Principal Investigator and the team, the feasibility of the work program, and the appropriateness of the proposed performance indicators.
