Provisional results of Call IC&DT projects in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Cybersecurity relevant to Public Administration
The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) announced today, December 19, 2024, the provisional results ofCall scientific research and technological development (IC&DT) projects in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Cybersecurity relevant to Public Administration.
After analysis and evaluation, 70 projects were recommended for funding out of a total of 114 applications. The minimum amount per project proposed for funding was €60,000 and the maximum was €125,000. The projects will have a maximum duration of 12 months.
Of the 70 projects recommended for funding, 86% correspond to the field of artificial intelligence, in the areas of data science and governance, 7% to cybersecurity, and 7% to digital service design and interaction design (figures that reflect the distribution of areas in the applications received). The beneficiaries include higher education institutions and research units, as well as local authorities, local health units, companies, armed forces units, and other public administration bodies.
The total investment amount is €8,259,882.38, financed by investment RE-C05-i08 – “Ciência Mais Digital” (More Digital Science) from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
This Call support projects that are relevant to public administration entities (namely central, decentralized, and local administration; public business entities; state regional development agencies, among others), as well as to citizens and the general public. The main objectives are therefore to consolidate and strengthen the National Science and Technology System (SNCT), promoting competitiveness, innovation, and knowledge transfer between the SNCT and the Public Administration, bringing government development strategies closer together, reinforcing priorities for the country's strategic autonomy, and continuously improving Public Administration services, optimizing resources, and combating fraud and error.
