The second AU-EU Innovation Agenda workshop dedicated to the theme of "Access to Finance" will take place on May 29, in an online format. This virtual workshop is the second in a series dedicated to the implementation of the short-term actions of the AU-EU Innovation Agenda, which already included a first joint workshop between the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) on intellectual property rights, preceded by the AU-EU Innovation Festival in June 2023, and the AU-EU Innovation Agenda stakeholder event in November 2022. in June 2023, and the AU-EU Innovation Agenda stakeholder event in November 2022.

The objective of this series of workshops is to provide African and European researchers and innovators, as well as the community of stakeholders involved in the implementation of the AU-EU Innovation Agenda, with practical opportunities for training, growth, networking, and collaboration.

This second workshop will take place online on Thursday, May 29, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (WEST), and will focus specifically on access to financing. In this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Get the latest updates on the evolution of research and innovation (R&I) in the African Union and Europe from high-level representatives of the AU and the EU, following up on the AU-EU Innovation Agenda session during the last African Regional Forum on Science, Technology, and Innovation (ARSTIF) in 2024 in Addis Ababa.
  • Follow researchers and innovators as they share their experiences on the results and opportunities they have been able to seize through their participation in the work of the AU-EU Innovation Agenda.
  • Learn about the AU-EU training program on deep technological transformation, focusing on how to develop financial literacy, how to navigate public and private financing, and, finally, how to take advantage of new opportunities.
  • Join the virtual coffee and network with other innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers, investors, and policymakers in three different virtual rooms.

The AU-EU Innovation Agenda represents the new political pillar of cooperation in R&I between regions, based on close collaboration over the last three years under the auspices of the EU-AU High-Level Policy Dialogue on Science, Technology, and Innovation (HLPD-STI), one of the political dialogues on science in which FCT ensures Portuguese representation.
