Session on “Doctorates and PhDs in Business Environment” at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto
On April 26, at 5:00 p.m., the Polytechnic Institute of Porto will host the session "Doctorates and PhDs in a Business Environment," which will be the third in a series dedicated to the topic of doctorates in a non-academic environment, an initiative promoted in partnership by FCT and COTEC Portugal – Business Association for Innovation. The program and registration are now available.
The session will take place in the Vítor Santos Auditorium of the Porto Higher Institute of Engineering and will be attended by the Chair of the FCT Board of Directors, Madalena Alves; Paulo Pereira, President of the Porto Polytechnic; Marlos Silva, R&D+I Director at Sonae MC; Jorge Ferreira, CEO of IKEA Industry Portugal; Goreti Marreiros, Director of GECAD – Research Group in Engineering and Intelligent Computing for Innovation and Development at ISEP | P. PORTO; and Jorge Portugal, Director-General of COTEC Portugal.
This series of sessions has been guided by the promotion of debate on advanced doctoral-level training carried out in a business environment as a central factor in the relationship between companies and the scientific system, through the vital link between scientific research and the innovation cycle.
It should be noted that this year's Call for Studentships for Doctorates in all Scientific Fields, for which applications closed on March 31, aims to award 1,450 Studentships , of which 400 will be allocated to a specific application line for work plans developed in non-academic entities, namely companies, public administration entities, hospitals, museums, libraries, state laboratories, regulatory entities, or third sector entities.
