Session "Doctorates and PhDs in Business Environment" at Polytechnic of Porto

The Polytechnic of Porto will host on 26 April at 05:00 PM, the session "Doctorates and PhDs in a Business Environment", which will be the third in a cycle dedicated to the theme of PhDs in a non-academic environment, an initiative promoted in partnership by FCT and COTEC Portugal - Business Association for Innovation. The programme and registration are already available.

The session will take place in the Vítor Santos Auditorium of the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto and will be attended by the President of the Board of Directors of FCT, Madalena Alves; Paulo Pereira, President of the Polytechnic of Porto; Marlos Silva, Director R&D+I of Sonae MC; Jorge Ferreira, CEO of IKEA Industry Portugal; Goreti Marreiros, Director of GECAD - Research Group in Engineering and Intelligent Computing for Innovation and Development of ISEP | P. PORTO; and Jorge Portugal, Director-General of COTEC Portugal.

This cycle of sessions has been characterised by the promotion of debate on advanced training at the PhD level carried out in a business environment as a central factor in the relationship between companies and the scientific system, through the vital link between scientific research and the innovation cycle.

This year the FCT's Call for the Attribution of Studentships of Research for Doctorates in all Scientific Domains, whose applications closed last 31 March, aims at attributing 1450 Studentships of doctorates, of which 400 will be allocated to a specific line of application for work plans developed in non-academic entities, namely companies, public administration entities, hospitals, museums, libraries, state laboratories, regulatory entities, or third sector entities.
