News: Public session of the João Monjardino Prize 2023

The Public Presentation of the 2023 João Monjardino Prize will take place on May 16, 2024, at 3pm, in the Manuel Machado Macedo Auditorium (located at the NOVA Medical School Research Center in Lisbon).

The João Monjardino Prize 2023 was awarded to researcher Deborah Oyine Aluh (affiliated with the Lisbon Institute of Global Mental Health; Comprehensive Health Research Center (CHRC), NOVA Medical School), the first author of the article "Contextual factors influencing the use of coercive measures in Portuguese mental health care", published in the International Journal of Law and Psychiatry in 2023.

The award ceremony will include a round table discussion on Biomedical Research Infrastructures: 2014 - 2024, which will be followed by the presentation of the award-winning researcher's work. The following national infrastructures will be represented at the round table: BIN_National Brain Imaging Network - Core Infrastructure; Genome Portugal_National Facility for Genome Sequencing and Analysis and BioData.pt - Portuguese Biological Data Network.

The João Monjardino Prize is an initiative of the Francisco Pulido Valente Foundation and the Foundation for Science and Technology that aims to stimulate research, experimental development and innovation in the field of Biomedical and Health Sciences by recognizing the merit of scientific and technological activities carried out in this field.
