21st Edition of the L’Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science
Applications forthe 21st edition of the "L'Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science"will be accepted from November 4 until 5:00 p.m. (Mainland Portugal time) on December 6, 2024. This Call promoted by FCT, L'Oréal Portugal, and the Portuguese National Commission for UNESCO and has been held since 2004, having honored 69 young female researchers in Portugal to date.
In the 2024 edition, four medals of honor are expected to be awarded, worth €15,000 each. The initiative aims to support advanced scientific research studies at the postdoctoral level, carried out at an institution within the national scientific and technological system, in the field of Science, Engineering, and Technology for Health or the Environment.
All women who, on the date of the Call opening, have obtained their PhD degree less than five years ago and who will not be over 35 years of age by the end of 2024 are eligible to apply. For applicants who have children, the age limit may be extended by one year for each child, depending on the number of children.
Meet thewinners of the 2023 edition: Laetitia Gaspar – Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology at the University of Coimbra, Cláudia Deus – Multidisciplinary Institute of Aging at the University of Coimbra, Sara Silva Pereira – Biomedical Research Center at the Portuguese Catholic University, and Mariana Osswald – Institute for Research and Innovation in Health at the University of Porto.
