3rd Edition of the Mário Ruivo Award – Ocean Generations

Save the Date - Mário Ruivo Awards Ceremony

The Mário Ruivo Award challenged young people between the ages of 14 and 21 to create films that express the fundamental role of the ocean in human life. On November 16, National Sea Day, the winners will be announced at a ceremony to be held at 5:00 p.m. at the Portuguese Film Library.

Awards will be given to films in each category of the Call that stand out for their merit and quality, as well as for their impact in raising awareness of the importance of the ocean.

This award honors the legacy of Professor Mário Ruivo, a figure of recognized scientific, political, diplomatic, and cultural merit, a pioneer in the defense of the ocean and in raising environmental issues in Portugal.

The FCT, together with the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere, the Mission Structure for the Extension of the Continental Shelf, the Portuguese Film Archive – Cinema Museum, and the Directorate-General for Education, is part of the Award Organizing Committee, which is coordinated by the Directorate-General for Maritime Policy.
