4th edition of Call Advanced Computing Projects

4th Edition Call of Advanced Computing Projects

The FCT, through its FCCN unit, opens applications for the 4th edition of Call Advanced Computing Projects on October 26. This Call aims to make Advanced Computing resources available for Research and Innovation and is a collaboration with the operational centers of the National Advanced Computing Network (RNCA).

More than 300 million CPU core.hours or vCPU.hours are available at Call and applications will be accepted in all scientific areas using High Performance Computing (HPC) and/or scientific Cloud or Virtual Research Environments (VRE ) in four different types:

  • Experimental Access (A0) - 6-month projects for users with little or no previous experience. Several batches of applications between 26/10/2023 and 30/5/2024
  • Development Access (A1) - projects of up to 12 months for testing and optimizing computational work. Several batches of applications between 26/10/2023 and 30/5/2024
  • Regular Access (A2) - for research and innovation projects of up to 3 million CPU core.hours over 12 months. Applications between 26/10/2023 and 19/12/2023
  • Larger Access (A3) - for large research and innovation projects up to 20 million CPU core.hours for 12 months in Deucalion and MareNostrum 5. Applications between 19/12/2023 and 8/2/2024.

The Calls Advanced Computing Projects seek to encourage the use of HPC and Cloud Science or VRE computing resources to obtain new knowledge that will enable scientific and technological progress in all areas of knowledge. These resources can be useful for simulations in areas as diverse as climate or molecular modeling, artificial intelligence and the study of complex problems in the creation of new materials or the improvement of industrial production lines.

An online information session will be held on October 26 at 12 noon. Sign up here.

Applications are due on the myFCT Platform between October 26 and May 30.
