8th Edition of Call for Individual Scientific Employment Call for 400 contracts

On December 3, the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) published the Notice of the Call for the 8th edition of Call for Individual Scientific Employment Call (CEEC). The deadline for submitting applications is from December 15, 2025, to January 29, 2026, and confirmation by the Host Institutions is due by February 13, 2026.

This Call the financing of 400 Scientific Employment contracts, supporting the hiring of early-career researchers for a maximum period of three years, in junior and assistant positions, with an estimated investment of around €63.5 million.

The CEEC Individual is intended for PhD holders of any nationality or stateless persons with a background in any scientific field who wish to pursue scientific research or technological development in Portugal.

Applications will be selected based on criteria of excellence, through an evaluation and classification process carried out by international panels.

With this Call, FCT reinforces its commitment to the growth of Research & Innovation in Portugal, through sustainable scientific employment policies, as well as by valuing the multiplicity of scientific paths and profiles of national researchers.

This Call annually since 2018. In the seven editions held so far, the CEEC has awarded a total of 2,734 employment contracts to researchers with PhDs in all scientific fields.
