Call Applications for Exploratory Research Projects in all Scientific Fields 2024

From December 19, 2024, until February 25, 2025, applications will be accepted for the Call Exploratory Research Projects in all Scientific Fields 2024.

This Call to fund exploratory projects (PEX) in all scientific fields, with a special focus on innovative proposals aimed at early-career researchers, or on original ideas and concepts that are highly novel and demonstrate disruptive potential compared to previous work carried out by more experienced researchers.

The expected duration of the projects to be developed is 18 months, with the maximum funding to be allocated increased from €50,000 to €60,000 per project, without reducing the total number of projects to be funded. The overall budget allocation for this measure is €24 million, representing an increase of €4 million compared to Calls .

A narrative CV system will be adopted in the evaluation methodologies, with a view to a more comprehensive and effective assessment of the diversity of the backgrounds of the researchers responsible for the applications.

In the context of simplifying administrative procedures, once funding has been allocated, it will be implemented through a lump sum model. This is the second edition of this Call this simplified cost model, which will strengthen the mechanisms for monitoring the scientific implementation of projects.

This Call the possibility of allocating computing time on FCT's new supercomputers (DeucalionandMareNostrum 5). To do so, simply indicate the need for advanced computing resources and/or research data repositories in your application.
