“Archives of Knowledge: Science, History, and Memory” Series: 2nd Session on the Topic “Portugal and NATO: Science, Technology, and Scientific Diplomacy (1947–2010)”
The second session of the “Archives of Knowledge: Science, History, and Memory” series will take place on May 13 at 2:30 p.m. in the small auditorium at LNEC (Avenida do Brasil, No. 101, in Lisbon).
In this initiative by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), organized by the Science and Technology Archive (ACT), the topic under discussion will be “Portugal and NATO: Science, Technology, and Scientific Diplomacy (1947–2010),” to be presented by researcher José Luiz Assis (IHC, University of Évora Campus). The discussion will be moderated by Daniel Gamito-Marques, from the NOVA School of Science and Technology (NOVA FCT) and the Interuniversity Center for the History of Science and Technology (CIUHCT).
The “Archives of Knowledge: Science, History, and Memory” series aims to host short sessions in an environment that fosters the sharing and dissemination of the documentary collection of the FCT Science and Technology Archive, which holds unique insights into the history of scientific activity in Portugal. Admission is free, subject to prior registration by May 12. The detailed program for the event can be found on the ACT website.
The remaining two sessions scheduled for 2026 are tentatively set for September 16 and November 4; all information regarding their programs will be posted on this page in due course.
