The Scientific Community Support Fund Program continues to support the operation of non-profit scientific societies or scientific institutions of the same nature, which promote the dissemination of science and technology and are mainly composed of individuals.

The support for the operation of scientific societies or other scientific institutions of the same nature is a specific support from the Scientific Community Support Fund Programme (SCSFP).
This support translates into the attribution of funding, for a maximum period of one year, for operating expenses, dissemination of science and technology, international contributions and other activities foreseen in the annual plans contained in the applications submitted by the recipient institutions of this support.

Non-profit scientific societies or scientific institutions of the same nature, which promote the dissemination of science and technology and are mainly composed of singular persons, may apply for this support. Institutions whose main activity is teaching, training, professional representation, or research are not eligible for this support.

Applications are submitted from 1 to 31 March, 2023, by filling out the electronic form available in the platform area for application submission.
The following documents must be uploaded to the application form:
- Activity programme and objectives for the year to which the application refers and a detailed budget for the period to be supported (maximum five pages);
- Activities report and account of the previous annual period;
- Statutes of the society or association and legal proof of existence in the case of an entity that presents its first application or that has had its statutes changed;
- Declaration signed by the head of the governing bodies of the proposing institution/scientific merit evaluator and respective(s) curriculum vitae (model available in the electronic form);
- Declaration of the bank account of the proposing institution certified by the banking institution (model available in the electronic form).
Incomplete applications or applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

The evaluation and selection of applications by FCT takes into consideration the analysis of their eligibility, the objectives of the society or association, the quality and relevance of the developed and to be developed activities, their performance within the scope of the dissemination of S&T, as well as the financial information submitted.
The results will be communicated via email, until the end of May 2023.

Support is provided through the budget registered in the FCT Tax Revenue, under Regulation nº 120/2013, Scientific Community Support Fund Programme, published in Diário da República 2nd series, nº 65, 3 April, 2013.
The global allocation for this support for 2023 is €100,000.
