Open invitation to join the National Center for Advanced Computing
The National Center for Advanced Computing (CNCA) has opened a call for expressions of interest to all entities wishing to join this strategic innovation and supercomputing network as members. The deadline for applications is March 24, 2025. Membership of the CNCA allows entities to benefit from an advanced high-performance computing ecosystem, with access to essential infrastructure and skills for research and development in various scientific and technological areas.
Information about expressing interestis available on the website of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and interested parties should formalize their intention by emailingcnca-questoes@incd.pt, indicating the entity and, where possible, the desired annual quota level, as stipulated inthe CNCA statutes.
The CNCA is a new entity that, with support from the FCT through its digital services unit FCCN, aims to manage, frame, monitor, and promote advanced computing activities and initiatives in Portugal, strengthening support for science, technology, and innovation and enhancing the benefits of a more comprehensive ecosystem for the academic, scientific, and business communities. This new institutional structure is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan and is one of the actions included inmeasure RE-C05-i08 Ciência Mais Digital(More Digital Science), contracted between FCT and Estrutura de Missão Recuperar Portugal (Recover Portugal Mission Structure).
The structuring of this initial group of members aims to facilitate the launch of the CNCA and establish a solid foundation for its future development. Although this phase aims to bring together the initial group of members, future memberships will continue to be possible, ensuring its continued growth.
