COST approves 70 new actions aimed at promoting research
COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) recently approved 70 new Actions aimed at promoting research in all areas of knowledge, with a view to encouraging cooperation between different member states through the establishment of partnerships and networks.
Of these 70 new Actions, 90% involve national participation and six are coordinated by researchers affiliated with institutions belonging to the National Science and Technology System (SNCT).
The call for expressions of interest for the Management Committees of these new COST Actions and other Actions with open positions is now open. Please note that the Action Management Committee may include up to two researchers affiliated with SNCT institutions. The deadlines for submitting expressions of interest are as follows:
- Until June 27, 2025, for all members of the group proposing the new approved actions;
- Until July 11, 2025, for all others interested in joining the Management Committee for newly approved Actions or others that are currently underway.
Priority to join the Management Committee will be given to those who were part of the proposing group.
More than 250 COST actions are currently underway, with almost 100% Portuguese participation. Please visit the FCT website page dedicated to COST for more information on how to submit your expression of interest (Legislation and Regulations section).
See information on all active Actions, which represent an opportunity for transnational networking collaboration for interested researchers.
COST's mission is to support the creation of transnational cooperation networks between researchers across Europe, so that they can freely, openly, and jointly develop their ideas and initiatives. These networks, called COST Actions, enable advances in the development of scientific knowledge and the training of their participants. Portugal is a success story in COST, with around 2,000 researchers affiliated with national institutions involved each year.
The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) coordinates the promotion and participation of the national scientific community in COST and is responsible for the appointment of members to the Action Management Committee.
