Eligibility

  • No. The FCT-Tenure program does not discriminate between types of non-permanent contracts. Its aim is to contribute to solutions for the integration of researchers in career positions, including post-doctoral fellows, researchers hired under the Transitional Standard, researchers with contracts awarded under European projects, researchers with contracts under individual or institutional CEEC fixed-term programs, or researchers with other fixed-term contracts funded or not by the FCT. It is considered that any measure to stimulate open-ended hiring should not restrict the eligibility of potential beneficiaries to the fact that they hold a particular type of fixed-term contract.

  • Yes, tendering procedures that began after July 31, 2023 are eligible, and there will be no retroactive payments for the period between August 1, 2023 and the start of the program contract with the FCT, although the same co-financing period will be maintained.

  • No. Despite recognizing that the problem of scientific precariousness has a significant impact across borders, one of the objectives of the FCT-Tenure program is to promote the integration into career positions of researchers who have or have had fixed-term positions as doctoral graduates in Portugal.

  • No. However, strategies to be implemented at the level of advanced master's and doctoral training could be indicated, where the researcher to be hired and his or her Research Unit could play a relevant role, with a view to greater integration between research strategies and the curricular offer.
