FCT Opens Public Consultation on the Revision of the Regulations for Advanced Computing Projects
The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), through its digital services unit—FCCN—has launched a public consultation on the proposed revision of the Advanced Computing Projects Regulation, which establishes the rules for awarding support through the provision of advanced computing resources managed by the FCT.
The public consultation will run for 30 days, until 5:00 p.m. on August 5, 2026, during which time all interested parties may submit comments on the proposal.
The purpose of the revision of the regulation is to update and simplify the current framework, incorporating the experience gained from its implementation and adapting it to the evolving needs of the scientific, technological, and innovation communities.
Among the main proposed changes are the possibility of integrating external platforms, clarification of procedures, a more precise definition of the responsibilities of the parties involved, and greater flexibility in the implementation of Calls.
With this revision, the FCT aims to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and adaptability of the system for allocating advanced computing resources, thereby contributing to a model that is simpler, clearer, and better tailored to the current needs of the national science and technology system.
Comments for the public consultation should be sent to the following email address: computacao-avancada@fccn.pt.
