The FCT has announced the final results of the call for expressions of interest for the creation and establishment of a consortium to promote the management and sharing of research data at the national level. The provisional results of the expressions of interest for the creation of Research Data Management Centers (GDI) have also been announced.

These two processes are part of the National Program for Open Science and Open Research Data (PNCADAI), an investment measure RE-C05-i08 – More Digital Science financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).

The main mission of the National Consortium for Research Data Management and Sharing will be to promote, create, and develop a networked community of practice for the management of FAIR research data in Portugal, coordinating and supporting the selected Research Data Management Centers. It will also aim to ensure support for convergence with legislation and infrastructure (both national and European). The proposal submitted was selected.

In the case of the Centres for GDI, the selected entities (provisional results) will contribute to the creation of a network to support the management and opening up of research data in Portugal, serving a community of internal users within the institution(s) and promoting the principles of FAIR Data.

Of the 18 proposals submitted for the GDI Centers, the first 10 proposals were selected based on the panel's evaluation. In addition, the FCT also intends to contract with centers that exceeded the elimination threshold, in accordance with section 3.3 of the Call for Expressions of Interest.

During the evaluation process, the panel highlighted the high quality of the proposals, as well as the initiative to establish and promote a National Network for Research Data Management.
