FCT Launches New Matrix of Services and Opportunities Offered by European Research Infrastructures

The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) has posted a new matrix on its website listing the services and opportunities offered by the European Research Infrastructures in which Portugal participates, making it easier and more efficient for the national scientific community to access up-to-date and relevant information.

The tool provides a clear and accessible overview of what each infrastructure has to offer, serving as a starting point for researchers, institutions, and other entities interested in learning about and exploring the available services, access opportunities, training, collaboration, and funding, thereby promoting a more strategic use of these resources.

European Research Infrastructures are unique platforms, resources, and services—including scientific equipment, databases, computing systems, and communication networks, among others—that support world-class research across multiple fields. They play a central role in the generation of knowledge and innovation, helping to address environmental, societal, and economic challenges on a European and global scale.

Portugal actively participates in several of these research infrastructures, both as a member of established organizations and through collaborations on international projects and networks, many of which are part of the ESFRI Roadmap (European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures). This participation ensures that the national scientific community has access to advanced services, training, international collaboration, and competitive funding programs, particularly under Horizon Europe.

Through this initiative, the FCT aims to increase the visibility and accessibility of these opportunities, thereby contributing to greater national participation, the development of international partnerships, and the advancement of the country’s scientific and technological capabilities.
