ESFRI - European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures

The European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) contributes to a strategic approach to policy-making for research infrastructures in Europe and facilitates multi-stakeholder initiatives that lead to better use and development of research infrastructures at European and international level.

In 2006, ESFRI published its first Roadmap for building and developing the next generation of pan-European research infrastructures. This Roadmap has had updates in 2008, 2010, 2016, 2018, and 2021 to include projects and landmarks that aim to promote European leadership.

The ESFRI Roadmap 2021 included eleven new projects, for a total of 63 research infrastructures of which 22 are projects and 41 are landmarks.

It is expected that a new revision of the ESFRI Roadmap will be published in 2025.
