Under Decree-Law No. 57/2016, as currently worded, institutions with doctoral fellows who had been working in public institutions or who had been financed by public funds for more than three consecutive or interpolated years should open two competitive procedures for the hiring of doctoral researchers. The first procedure should be opened as soon as possible, and the second procedure before August 31, 2018.
Whenever the Studentship gave rise to the position to be contracted has been financed directly or indirectly by the FCT for more than three consecutive or interpolated years, the FCT shall assume the hiring costs, regardless of the candidate selected, by entering into a program contract with the institution. The entities that are host institutions for these scholarship holders have notified the FCT of their scholarship holders who gave rise to these positions.
