The Horizon Europe Work Program 2025 has been pre-published, highlighting funding opportunities for collaborative research and innovation in all scientific fields (Thematic Clusters and Missions), research infrastructures, and the WIDERA program.

With regard to programs whose promotion and national representation is ensured by FCT, it should be noted that the section dedicated to research infrastructure maintains the four strategic axes: i) Consolidation and Development of Research Infrastructure; ii) EOSC; iii) Services; iv) Technological Development. The WIDERA program includes Calls to Widening and the European Research Area, already with elements related to the future Political Agenda 2025-2027. Research infrastructures and WIDERA are both horizontal themes of Horizon Europe and are critically important for the National Science and Technology System (SNCT) in terms of the career development and internationalization of researchers, as well as for the growth and competitiveness of R&D institutions in all scientific fields.

Scheduled for publication in the next quarter are the MSCA work program with new Calls amendment to the current work program) and the ERC 2026 work program, with Calls expected to open Calls this calendar year.

The European Commission will organize a series of information sessions on this work program, some of which are already scheduled. The following sessions, which will be live streamed (times indicated refer to mainland Portugal), are particularly noteworthy:

It should also be noted that there is a YouTube channel providing information on various events organized by the European Commission and the Executive Agencies.

The Foundation for Science and Technology coordinates national representation and participation in Horizon Europe, the European framework program for research and innovation for the period 2021-2027, in areas dedicated to the European Research Council, Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, Research Infrastructures, and WIDERA.
