CMU-Portugal 2027 Mobility Initiatives Award “ Studentships ” to “Visiting Faculty and Researchers” and “Visiting Students”
The application period for the 2027 edition of the CMU-Portugal Mobility Initiatives, supported by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), runs through November 15, 2026. The initiatives include the“Visiting Faculty and Researchers”Program and the “Visiting Students”Program and aim to promote mobility and scientific cooperation with Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh in the fields of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
The CMU-Portugal Visiting Professors and Researchers Program will support up to 10 fellows for short-term stays at CMU (ranging from two weeks to four months), with the aim of fostering collaboration in research, education, and innovation in ICT, as well as exposure to the academic culture and best practices of this internationally renowned university. Applicants must be Portuguese citizens or foreign nationals with permanent residence in Portugal, hold a doctoral degree as of the application date, and be affiliated with a Portuguese institution of higher education or a research laboratory.
Through the CMU-Portugal Visiting Student Program, up to 14 master’s students or master’s degree holders in ICT-related fields will be supported, providing them with the opportunity to conduct research at CMU for a short period (between two weeks and four months). During their stay, students will be mentored by CMU faculty and researchers and will have direct contact with CMU’s academic and scientific community. Portuguese citizens or foreign nationals with permanent residence in Portugal are eligible to apply.
