FCT is a member of the new co-funded European Partnership for Biodiversity, Biodiversa+ "Rescuing Biodiversity to Safeguard Life on Earth", developed jointly by BiodivERsA and the European Commission (DG Environment and DG Research & Innovation).
As part of the European Biodiversity Strategy 2030 to build the bridge between science, policy and practice, Biodiversa+ brings together 76 funding organizations and environmental policy actors from 39 European and associated countries to work on its 5 main objectives:
- Plan and support biodiversity research and innovation through a shared strategy, and joint annual Calls for research projects and capacity building activities.
- Establish a network of harmonized schemes to improve monitoring of biodiversity and ecosystem services across Europe.
- Contribute to cutting-edge knowledge for the implementation of nature-based solutions and biodiversity enhancement in the private sector.
- Ensure efficient scientific support for policy formulation and implementation in Europe.
- Strengthen the relevance and impact of pan-European biodiversity research in a global context.
