Biodiversa+

FCT is a member of the new European Co-financed Partnership for Biodiversity, Biodiversa+ "Rescuing Biodiversity to Safeguard Life on Earth", developed jointly by BiodivERsA and the European Commission (DG Environment and DG Research & Innovation).

As part of the European Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 to build the bridge between science, policy and practice, Biodiversa+ brings together 76 funding organizations and environmental policy actors from 39 European and associated countries to work on its 5 main objectives:

  1. Plan and support research and innovation in biodiversity through a shared strategy and joint annual Calls for research projects and capacity-building activities.
  2. Establish a network of harmonized schemes to improve the monitoring of biodiversity and ecosystem services across Europe.
  3. To contribute to cutting-edge knowledge for the implementation of nature-based solutions and the valorization of biodiversity in the private sector.
  4. Ensure efficient scientific support for the formulation and implementation of policies in Europe.
  5. Strengthen the relevance and impact of pan-European biodiversity research in a global context.
