Since 1995, the CYTED Program has been formally included among the Cooperation Programs of the Ibero-American Summits of Heads of State and Government.

The participation in this Cooperation Program is monitored in Portugal by the Foundation for Science and Technology, allowing the establishment of scientific and technical cooperation programs with teams from a large number of Latin American countries.

Importance of CYTED in Ibero-America:

The CYTED Program has as its main objective to contribute to the harmonious development of the Iberoamerican space through the establishment of cooperation mechanisms between research groups from Universities, R&D Centers and innovative companies from Iberoamerican countries, which aim to achieve scientific and technological results transferable to production systems and social policies. It is a common instrument of the national Science and Technology Systems of the Iberoamerican Region, generating a platform that promotes and supports multilateral cooperation.
