Launch of the new platform for accreditation and provision of statistical data for scientific research purposes
On September 30, 2024, the new Platform for accreditation and provision of statistical data for scientific research purposes was launched.
This platform integrates the researcher accreditation process, as provided for in the protocol for access to data for scientific purposes, established between the National Statistics Institute (INE), the Directorate-General for Education and Science Statistics (DGEEC) and the FCT. This protocol establishes the conditions for access, for scientific purposes, to anonymized individual statistical data contained in databases held by INE (produced by INE, by entities with delegated powers, and by other administrative sources) in INE's National Data Infrastructure.
Access to data under this protocol requires researchers to be accredited (Clause 2 of the Protocol) by the DGEEC and, as of the date this Accreditation Platform becomes available, no requests for access to microdata by other means will be accepted.
This new platform promotes the administrative simplification of the data request accreditation process, streamlining and improving communication with researchers through dematerialization and automation, while ensuring all levels of security and protection of confidential data.
