Call Validate for biomedical research

FCT and the “la Caixa” Foundation have opened applications for Call CaixaResearch Validate, for biomedical research projects. Proposals can be submitted until 1 p.m. (Lisbon time) on February 10. Detailed information, as well as the regulations and application form, are available on the Call page.

This Call, which is being held under the Caixa Validate Program, part of the new framework agreement for collaboration between the two institutions signed this month, aims to support research projects in the areas of life sciences, medicine, and health whose objective is to enhance and commercialize assets resulting from research, whether patented or patentable.

In addition to funding of up to €100,000, the selected projects will also receive support through expert supervision, the assignment of a mentor, and specialized training in strategic areas such as project management, financing tools, and marketing, among others, with a view to providing fundamental tools for successfully defining and implementing the valorization and commercialization plan.

Applicants must be non-profit legal entities—universities, university foundations, research and transfer centers, technology centers, hospitals, hospital foundations, and non-profit institutions whose main activity is research—registered in Portugal or Spain and with status as owners or co-owners of the assets that are the subject of the valuation and commercialization plan.
