FCT opens up for debate White Paper on an R&D Agenda for the Atlantic

(Available only in Portuguese)

In recent months, the FCT has promoted a series of international workshops to define a research agenda for the Atlantic centered on the Azores, fostering North-South and transatlantic cooperation, with the aim of developing an international cooperation platform dedicated to integrated research in the areas of climate, earth observation, energy, space and oceans.

In these workshops, it has become increasingly clear that international research agencies, companies and policy makers from various countries and bodies are interested in developing an international base for this research, in a privileged location in terms of geography and installed capacity: the Azores archipelago. This is why the creation of the Azores International Research Center – AIR Center – is being proposed, capable of bringing together scientific, technological and business interests.

FCT is now asking for contributions from the Portuguese scientific community to the preliminary document that will serve as a basis for establishing the agenda for the AIR Center. The document is available here , and contributions can be sent to AIR.workshops@fct.pt .
