Associate Laboratories

The Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education has approved the Regulation for the Granting of Status and Funding to Associate Laboratories. The regulation will come into force after its publication in Diário da República.

FCT is the entity responsible for conducting the process of evaluating proposals for the creation and renewal of the status of Associate Laboratory and for monitoring them, within the scope of the legal regime for research and development (R&D) institutions established by Decree-Law no. 63/2019, of May 16.

The Associate Laboratories, approved for a period of up to 10 years following evaluation of the applications, will sign program contracts with the FCT relating to the commitments made, the funding awarded, and any additional requirements that may be established.
