UbuntuNet brings researchers from Africa and Europe closer together

A high-speed network dedicated to research and education, UbuntuNet, will now strengthen links between scientists and academics in southern and eastern Africa, serving as a link between them and their peers on the European continent. It is the first network of its kind in Africa.

The launch of UbuntuNet took place on November 28 in Lisbon, as part of the EuroAfrica-ICT 2012 Forum, an event co-organized by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), through the Department of Information Society (DSI). This two-day event brought together dozens of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) experts from African and European countries in Lisbon.
