'UbuntuNet' brings researchers from Africa and Europe closer together
A high-speed network dedicated to research and education, 'UbuntuNet', will now strengthen contact between scientists and academics in southern and eastern Africa, serving as a link between them and their peers on the European continent. It is the first network of its kind to exist in Africa.
The launch of 'UbuntuNet' took place on November 28 in Lisbon, as part of the EuroAfrica-ICT Forum 2012, an event co-organized by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), through the Information Society Department (DSI). The event brought together dozens of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) experts from African and European countries for two days in Lisbon.
