New edition of the Belmiro de Azevedo Foundation Award with the support of FCT

Applications for the 2025 edition of the Belmiro de Azevedo Foundation Award – Conservation, Restoration, and Monitoring of Biodiversity in Portugal will be accepted from April 1 to 30, 2025. This award is the result of an agreement between the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the Belmiro de Azevedo Foundation (FBA), with the aim of supporting the implementation of projects of high merit and impact, according to the best national and international standards, in the field of conservation, restoration, and monitoring of biodiversity in Portugal.

Each award may vary between €100,000 and €250,000, with the total funding available for awards to be shared equally up to a total amount of €500,000. Applications may be submitted by private non-profit legal entities based in Portugal, including scientific societies, non-profit scientific associations, and higher education institutions, as well as their institutes and R&D units, whether public or private. Each application must designate a researcher responsible for coordinating the work, who has held a PhD for at least five years, and each researcher may only be part of one application.

Applications will be open until 5:00 p.m. (Lisbon time) on April 30, 2025, and must be submitted in English by completing the electronic form available on themyFCT platform. For more information, please visit the Call page.
