The 9th edition of the Arquivo.ptAward invites the community to immerse themselves in Portugal's digital memory and create original and innovative projects that use the digital service of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), developed through FCCN, as their main source. Applications open on January 6 and run until May 6, 2026.

The award can be given to individual or group projects, with no restrictions on subject matter, covering historical and sociological research, education, communication, and technology, as well as the design of practical applications that explore the content preserved in Arquivo.pt. By using Arquivo.pt as their main source, participants can reveal historical narratives, develop useful tools, and contribute to the social and scientific understanding of Portugal's digital presence.

The winning project will receive a prize of €10,000. Prizes of €3,000 and €2,000 are also planned for the 2nd and 3rd place winners, respectively.

Honorable mentions will also be awarded to projects with special focuses: the Público newspaper, once again the media partner for this initiative, will recognize works centered on the contents of its online archive, offering two years of digital subscription. The DNS.pt (.PT) Association will recognize the student whose work uses Arquivo.pt to explore and enhance Portugal's digital presence, focusing on a theme related to a .pt website or the history of the .pt domain, awarding a prize of €1,500 for the purchase of a laptop.

The jury for the 9th edition of the Arquivo.pt Award will be composed of experts from various fields, ranging from literature, journalism, and technology to biology and art history.

The evaluation criteria include the clarity and structure of the application, the originality and maturity of the project, the social and scientific impact, and, especially, the relevance of the use of Arquivo.pt for the work presented.

This is a unique opportunity to travel back in time and transform digital memory into knowledge that is relevant to the present, giving visibility to innovative projects that promote digital preservation.
