Provisional Results of the Call for Exploratory Projects of the CMU Portugal Program

The provisional results of the Call for Exploratory Projects under the CMU Portugal Program are now known, with 6 projects having been recommended for funding from a pool of 36 eligible applications. The funding awarded to each project is between 47,000 and 70,000 euros, resulting in a total investment of 354,493.04 euros from the FCT budget.

The Call aims to support teams of researchers from SCTN entities, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and industry partners in initiating potential research activities of high impact and strategic relevance to the CMU Portugal Program. The funded projects will carry out research on subjects as diverse as: cognitive-behavioral intervention to detect, treat and monitor anxiety and depression in breast cancer survivors; accelerated, adaptive and large-scale distributed network functions; automatic evaluation of visualizations; Value Systems in Digital Health Technologies; integrated photonic neural probes for neuromorphic computing; millimeter-sized implant stimulators.

The CMU Portugal Program is part of a network of international cooperation programs between Portugal and institutions in various countries under the goPORTUGAL initiative - Global Partnerships in Science and Technology, promoted by FCT.
