The FCT announced the provisional results of Call Exploratory Projects under the MIT Portugal Program, with eight projects recommended for funding from a total of 24 eligible applications. The funding allocated to each project ranges from €32,000 to €50,000, resulting in a total investment of €381,035.93 from the FCT budget.

The Call support research activities at Portuguese universities, promoting the value of knowledge and research, integrating human factors and technology, and stimulating multidisciplinary and sustainability-oriented approaches. The approved projects will develop research in the areas of the third phase of the MIT-Portugal Program, particularly in the following topics: formulation and characterization of sustainable and circular construction materials; monitoring and mapping of operations in space; a digital platform that combines durability data, maintenance models, and energy rehabilitation decisions; perception of pain and physical limitations for an intelligent collaborative robot; atmospheric tomography; a prototype for studying the distribution, ecological dynamics, and carbon of peatlands in the Iberian Peninsula; metallization of polymers for the automotive industry; and planning the operation of electrical networks.

The MIT Portugal Program is part of a network of international cooperation programs between Portugal and institutions in various countries under the goPORTUGAL initiative – Global Partnerships in Science and Technology, promoted by FCT.
