Winners of the REN Scientific Merit Medals – Science LP
The winners of the 2nd edition of the REN – Ciência LP Scientific Merit Medals were announced on November 28, at a ceremony held at the Impresa Building. The 1st Prize in the Student Category was awarded to Valdemar Abril Armindo for his Master's thesis "Diagnosis and Analysis of Faults in the Stator Windings of a Six-Phase PMSM with Predictive Control, for Application in Electric Vehicles and Wind Generators"; and the 1st Prize in the Women Researchers Category was awarded to Ariel Neves for her Master's thesis "Optimization of an Anaerobic Digestion Plant – Project in Renewable Engineering."
These medals, which are the result of a partnership between REN and Centro Ciência LP, with the support of FCT, seek to distinguish and value master's and doctoral theses developed in the field of energy and energy transition by young people from Portuguese-speaking countries. The award also has the distinction of having a category for female researchers, applying the principle of gender equality.
According to António Bob Santos, member of the FCT Board of Directors, the foundation "supports research and development projects, Studentships , and institutions in the field of energy and energy transition," and therefore associates itself with these initiatives that contribute "to producing new knowledge in these areas."
