Calls Exploratory Projects from the CMU-Portugal, MIT-Portugal, and UT Austin-Portugal Programs 2024
From December 2, 2024, until January 22, 2025, applications will be accepted for Exploratory Calls within the scope Calls international partnerships between FCT and the US universities Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin).
The international partnerships CMU-Portugal, MIT-Portugal, and UT Austin-Portugal promote annual Calls exploratory projects, with the aim of developing disruptive, high-risk scientific projects that have a high potential impact on the development and valorization of scientific results.
In each of these Calls, the expected duration of the projects to be developed is 12 months, with total funding of €400,000 allocated to each partnership.
This year,the CMU-PortugalProgram's Call for Exploratory Projects focuses on the area of Information and Communication Technologies, with funding of €50,000 per project with a Portuguese institution (individual projects) and €70,000 per project with more than one Portuguese institution (joint projects). The MIT-PortugalProgram Call for Exploratory Projects covers the following areas: Climate Science & Climate Change; Earth Systems: Oceans to Near Space; Digital Transformation in Manufacturing; and Sustainable Cities. It provides €50,000 in funding per project (individual or joint projects). The Call page Call available here.
The areas of knowledge covered by the UT Austin-Portugal Program's Call Call Exploratory Projects are as follows: Advanced Computing; Nano Materials for New Markets; Space-Earth Interactions. The FCT supports the internationalization of the national scientific and technological community by representing Portugal in international forums, funding innovative projects, and promoting the mobility of highly qualified human resources. In this context, the launch of the new"FCT Mobility" program was recently announced, aimed at supporting the international mobility of PhD researchers at any stage of their careers, in all areas of knowledge and regions of the world.
