The European Marine Board (EMB) has launched two new publications, Position Paper (No. 27) "Building Coastal Resilience in Europe " and Policy Brief (No. 11) "Blue Carbon: Challenges and Opportunities for Mitigating the Climate and Biodiversity Crises," at the EurOCEAN2023 conference held in Vigo, Spain, on October 10 and 11. FCT is a member of EMB and was represented by Sofia Cordeiro, coordinator of the Ocean Program.

The documents were presented in a session moderated by Kristin Richter, co-chair of the EMB Working Group on Coastal Resilience, with presentations by Sebastian Villasante, chair of the EMB Working Group on Coastal Resilience, and Natalie Hicks, member of the EMB Working Group on Blue Carbon. It featured a presentation by Portuguese researcher Ana Isabel Lillebø from CESAM / University of Aveiro, as an expert from the working group that drafted the publication on coastal resilience.

The EMB's mission is to develop common positions among European organizations that carry out and fund marine science research on scientific strategies and priorities for this area, thereby facilitating and promoting collaboration between this area and other socioeconomic actors. The European Marine Board's lines of action are based on four pillars: Forum, Synergies, Strategy, and Voice. Other EMB publications can be found here.
