Developed jointly by BiodivERsA and the European Commission (DG Environment and DG Research & Innovation), Biodiversa+ is part of the European Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 to build the bridge between science, policy and practice.
This co-funded partnership brings together 83 organizations from 41 countries, such as ministries responsible for research and innovation policy or environmental policy, research funding agencies, foundations and environmental protection agencies, based on five main objectives:
- plan and support research and innovation in biodiversity through a shared strategy and joint annual Calls for research projects and capacity-building activities;
- establish a network of harmonized schemes to improve the monitoring of biodiversity and ecosystem services across Europe;
- contribute to cutting-edge knowledge for the implementation of nature-based solutions and the enhancement of biodiversity in the private sector;
- ensure efficient scientific support for the formulation and implementation of policies in Europe;
- strengthen the relevance and impact of pan-European biodiversity research in a global context.
FCT and FRCT - Regional Fund for Science and Technology are the Portuguese organizations that are part of Biodiversa+.
