Enabling the transformation of health and care systems with innovative solutions based on knowledge and evidence is the goal of THCS, a unique strategic opportunity to support research and innovation (R&I) in a coordinated manner between various countries and regions, along with the training, networking, dissemination and other activities necessary to achieve that goal.
This co-funded partnership brings together 66 organizations from 26 countries, mainly ministries and R&I funding bodies, ministries of health or regional health and care authorities. The diverse skills of these partners bring a wide range of specializations and disciplines needed to address the different activities that THCS will develop, ensuring continuity between these activities and the demonstration of their results to stakeholders.
The approach to a successful and smooth implementation of THCS will focus on three main areas of work:
- To fill existing knowledge gaps by supporting research in this area with the aim of providing the evidence needed to build better health and care systems.
- Implementing and transferring knowledge, supporting actions focused on testing existing solutions and adapting these solutions to different national and regional contexts.
- Boosting health and care systems through specific activities (capacity building and training, study visits, technical assistance, twinning and networking) involving the different players in health care.
THCS's priority areas are described in its Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda, which identifies the challenges that the partnership intends to help solve, as well as the priorities and actions to be carried out.
FCT, AICIB - Agência de Investigação Clínica e Inovação Biomédica and CCDRC - Comissão de Coordenação e Desenvolvimento Regional do Centro, are the Portuguese organizations that make up THCS.
