Provisional Results of Exploratory Projects from the CMU, MIT, and UT Austin National Programs
The FCT has announced the provisional results of Calls 2024 Exploratory Calls the national programs of Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin). Twenty-six projects were approved for funding and will receive between €45,000 and €50,000 per project, totaling a global investment of €1,192,847.09 from the FCT budget.
These Calls carried out within the scope of FCT's international partnerships with the three US universities, and the results are published on the respective pages: CMU-Portugal Program, MIT-Portugal Program, and UT Austin-Portugal Program.
These international partnerships promote annual Calls exploratory projects lasting 12 months, with the aim of developing disruptive, high-risk scientific projects with a high potential impact on the development and valorization of the scientific results obtained.
The CMU-Portugal Call will primarily fund projects in the field of Information Technology. The MIT-Portugal Program projects cover areas such as Climate Science, Earth Systems, from the Oceans to Near Space, Digital Transformation in Industry, and Sustainable Cities. In turn, the UT Austin-Portugal Call covers the areas of Advanced Computing, Nanomaterials, and Space-Earth Interactions.
These Calls of the FCT's support for the internationalization of the national scientific and technological community, promoting and ensuring Portugal's representation in international forums, as well as financing innovative projects with international partnerships and the mobility of highly qualified human resources.
